24. Kiss of life

Aemond x reader | Kiss Prompts | Character injury | angst to fluff

The sound of pounding hooves on solid earth filled your rushing ears as you desperately clung to the saddle. Aemond had taken you out riding among the foothills outside King's Landing. Your horse had gotten spooked by a brightly colored snake as it slithered out from beneath a large stone.

You clung to your steed's mane, trying to calm her but she continued to run and buck wildly. You could hear Aemond calling your name behind you as he pursued, shouting indistinct words you couldn't make out in your panic.

You lost your seating, shrieking as you fell to the hard earth, pain shot through you upon impact. Your head hit the ground, your vision went blurry and began to fade as you fought to remain conscious. The ground trembled beneath you as Aemond arrived on his horse, his voice sounding garbled as if he spoke from one end of a long tunnel.

His name escaped softly from your lips, before your eyes rolled back, your vision going black.

---

"No, no, no!" Aemond dismounted hurriedly, collapsing to his knees at your side.

Blood was oozing from your hairline, where you had hit it on a protruding rock. Your body was limp, with rising panic, Aemond didn't see your chest moving. "Y/N?" He placed a shaking finger to the side of your throat; he couldn't find a pulse.

His throat constricted as he dragged you into his lap, his eye burning with unshed tears. "No, you can't be-I won't let you."

He wiped away the blood on your face, smearing it against the skin of your forehead. Droplets of moisture fell from his eye onto your cheek, your slack expression remaining unmoving as Aemond rocked back and forth on the grass.

"Y/N." Surely if he called out your name enough you would come back to him. "Y/N, please. I can't lose you."

He looked up to the gray sky as if help would descend from above, a ragged sob escaped his mouth as he tugged you closer, cradling your head in his hand.

"You cannot be dead." Angry now, Aemond shook you, demanding you return to him. His eye roving your still features, the way your lips were slightly parted.

He had heard you say his name right before you had...no he wouldn't accept it. Aemond leaned down, pressing his lips urgently against yours. Kissing you over and over, tasting his own tears upon your mouth.

You stirred, feeling the pressure of warm lips against your own, giving a soft groan as consciousness returned, with it a throbbing pain in your head.

"Y/N!"

Aemond was the one who had been kissing you as though his own life depended on it. You opened an eye to squint up at him. "Nice to see you too."

He let out a strangled sound halfway between a laugh and a sob. You opened your other eye, your brow furrowing as you saw tear tracks running down his cheek. "Aemond..." You struggled to sit up, his hands quick to support your back and head. "Are you alright?"

"Am I-" Aemond wiped a hand hastily across his face. "I thought you were dead, Y/N. You weren't breathing!"

"I will admit, I've felt better." The pain in your head was almost unbearable and you screwed up your face.

"We need to get you to the maester immediately." Aemond lifted you into his arms, carrying you to his waiting horse. "Do you feel faint at all?"

"Not like I'm going to pass out on you again." You winced as Aemond mounted behind you, every jostling movement sending shooting pain to your temples. "But I can hardly think for how badly it hurts."

Aemond made a soothing sound, urging his horse to begin walking back towards the Red Keep. He kissed the back of your head lightly, burying his nose in your hair.

"Aemond?"

"Hmm."

"Were you kissing me earlier?"

"I won't deny it."

"Why?"

Aemond breathed a sigh, tightening his grip around your waist. "That is something we can revisit once you are healed."
